Meeting set with DA to discuss dog’s death in Washington Township

Another Washington Township meeting has once again left residents and Justice for Otto supporters frustrated.
For nearly seven months, residents from area communities and a Washington Township family have been seeking justice for the murder of their German shepard, Otto.
For just as long, the family and supporters have claimed to be getting the run-around by Washington Township police and supervisors regarding the case, which is still open but recent meetings have left some wondering who is in charge.
In July, Otto’s owners claim they were told all evidence collected had been turned over to the Fayette County District Attorney’s Office for review, but the DA’s office has since said it has received little or no information and is still awaiting reports from township police.
To clear up the situation publicly, Otto’s owner, Paul Zuro, invited District Attorney Rich Bower to attend Wednesday’s meeting.
Up until Tuesday, Zuro said Bower was planning to attend. But those plans changed after a private meeting was scheduled by township Solicitor Matt Kalina.
Kalina told a frustrated audience during Wedneday’s supervisor’s meeting he received a phone call inquiring about a meeting from the district attorney’s office.
Now set for 9 a.m. Monday in the Fayette County Courthouse, Kalina, township police Chief Bruce Tooch, supervisors and others from the DA’s office are expected to attend.
