A few Mid-Mon Valley business owners were in the spotlight Thursday as they were honored at the Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual awards banquet.
In a ceremony at Anthony M. Lombardi Education Conference Center at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Township, MVRCC presented its top honor of the year, the Shining Star Award, to Dee’s Cricket owner and Charleroi Councilman Mark Alterici.
MVRCC executive director Leanna Spada explained that the Shining Star Award is given to someone for achievements in their career and their community.
Spada said she was excited to present the award to Alterici. In preparation for presenting him the award, she had an interview with him to learn about his life, accomplishments and family history. She said she walked away “feeling overwhelmed at the level of commitment and responsibility that one person can commit to.”
