A win is a win.
That was Belle Vernon Area head coach Rob Miele’s message to his soccer team.
Despite missing two starters from his back line and shuffling a few players around the lineup, the Leopards extended their winning streak to eight games Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Greensburg Salem at James Weir Stadium.
Senior captain Niko Apodiakos scored twice, including 26 seconds into the game to lead the way for the Leopards (8-0, 5-0). It may have been his best all-around game, Miele said.
“The team-first mentality really comes naturally for Niko. He’s a senior, he’s been around some good teams,” Miele said. “He really helped out tonight when we needed more support back there.”
