A day after calling for statewide legalization of marijuana, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman is urging Pennsylvanians to apply for pardons for nonviolent marijuana-related convictions.
Fetterman, who is in charge of the state’s Board of Pardons, is expediting the application process for pardons of such offenses, a move many residents in support of recreational legalization also support.
The findings from Fetterman’s 67-county Cannabis Listening Tour showed overwhelming support for legalizing adult-use marijuana, between 65 to 70% of residents who participated.
The findings led Gov. Tom Wolf and Fetterman to call for the decriminalization of small amounts of marijuana and the expungement of records for convictions of those crimes.
