Cougars section champs again after beating Brownsville
Charleroi clinched its third straight section title, the second outright, with a 9-3 win Tuesday at Brownsville in Section 3-2A action.
The win raises the Cougars’ section winning streak to 28.
Eben McIntyre single-handedly outscored the Falcons, finishing with a whopping five goals.
“The kid was just on fire,” Charleroi coach Jon Ducoli said. “He had no trouble at all and just kept finding the back of the net. Jace (Kepich) was finding him, Keaton Riley was finding him. As a whole, it was a great effort by the boys to find the gap, and Eben seemed to be there every time.”
Kepich, who scored a pair of goals, finished with four assists, allowing him to break through the century mark. He now has 102 in his career.
“It’s too bad it wasn’t at home, but any time you can get an accolade like that is a great accomplishment,” Ducoli said.
