The Emerging Leadership Program will kick off its second year this week.
Developed by the Twin Rivers Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Belle Vernon Area School District last year, the program designed to inspire and empower high school students to become leaders within their school and community will begin Thursday.
Designed for students in grades 10 through 12, the program allows students to connect with community leaders, business owners and other professionals to learn leadership skills like problem-solving, team-building, personal development and collaborations to develop respect and trust.
It also acquaints students with community needs and provides opportunities for service and volunteerism.
Students in the program will meet one day per month through April.
Each month will focus on a new topic building upon the previous month.
