A Roscoe resident with a wish to spread kindness in her community turned a “silly” game into a month’s long adventure — and brought hundreds of people along for the ride.
In August, Marcy Cox decided to start a chain of kindness that began with her making an afghan for a community member.
“Life has become so negative, with all of the violence, the murders, the drug trafficking, the human trafficking,” she said. “With all that negativity in this world, I thought we needed something to make us smile, to think of positive things to focus on.”
To give away the afghan, she decided on running with the idea of a lottery-style game to choose a random winner.
