A spaghetti dinner will be held in Liberty borough to help a single mother who recently lost part of her leg after complications from a blood clot.
Two years ago, doctors discovered that Amber Lasidic had a blood clot in her right leg. Four failed vein graft surgeries later, doctors’ concerns grew as her blood supply was cut off.
Parts of her heel and toes began to die about a month ago, and Lasidic learned that her right leg had to be amputated from the knee down.
“She was actually really strong about it,” said co-worker Joann Cookson Kennedy of Port Vue. “She took it really well, and because she’s been struggling with this foot and the surgeries and all the pain, I think she thought this could be a positive thing for her moving forward. She was more hopeful, I think.”
