Dog park opens in Port Vue

Hundreds of Port Vue residents, of both the two-legged and four-legged variety, gathered Saturday to celebrate the opening of the borough’s new dog park.
The event commemorated the life of Cindy Lyn McGraw-Davic, for whom the park is named. She passed away at age 46 from lung cancer four years before the park’s opening. She was a lifelong dog lover, and her family and friends felt that Cindy’s Memorial Bark Park was a fitting tribute.
Holly M. Turkovic, Cindy’s sister, recognized the many people who had a role in fulfilling her sister’s vision. Flanked by her sisters, Lisa Joseph and Lesley Sylvander, she thanked the dog park board, the local businesses that contributed to its construction and Port Vue officials.
Turkovic also recognized Shane Lawson of Lawson Excavation, who prepared the site at no charge, a service that was estimated at $150,000.
