It’s that time of year again when Washington County organizations, municipalities, schools, libraries, utility authorities and first responders request Local Share Account grants — this time seeking more than $27 million.
Washington County Local Share Account money is generated from gaming revenue at the Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane Township.
“The Local Share Review Committee was very excited to receive 88 applications for the (LSA) program this year,” said Jeff Kotula, chairman of the Washington County Local Share Account Committee.
Of those 88 applications, 25 involve potential Mid-Mon Valley projects.
“Reviewing these projects allows the committee to learn what is important to our local communities and municipalities,” Kotula said. “It is truly an open and locally driven program that invests in our county.”
