Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County officials are hopeful that a boil water advisory may be lifted today.
More than 16,000 MAWC customers in McKeesport, White Oak, Port Vue and Versailles remain under the advisory, but the first test on the affected line was encouraging.
“Results from the first round of water testing in McKeesport, White Oak, Versailles and Port Vue are good, but Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County customers in all four locations are advised to continue to boil water for drinking and cooking,” the company said in a prepared statement Tuesday. “We are hopeful that the advisory can be lifted Wednesday after a second round of good results.”
MAWC announced via Facebook that water samples were taken at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. Monday and again on Tuesday. It takes 24 hours for the results of those water tests to be returned.
