Bearcats, Cougars set for tough semifinal matchups

It has been a tale of two different Bentworth teams through the first two rounds of the WPIAL Class A playoffs.
After a first-round win over Mohawk, Bentworth head coach Tyler Hamstra said it was his group’s most complete effort of the season.
A quarterfinal win over Serra Catholic, however, left Hamstra feeling like his Bearcats didn’t play their game.
So that brings up an important question: What does second-seeded Bentworth’s veteran coach expect from his team tonight when they face third-seeded Shady Side Academy in a WPIAL semifinal matchup at Canon-McMillan?
“I expect us to rise to the occasion,” Hamstra said. “Truthfully, sometimes we’re a little bit better of a team when we we’re not on the ball a majority of the time and I would imagine Shady Side will be on the ball more than us. That is probably significantly to our advantage as compared to when we played Serra Catholic and we were on the ball a little bit more.”
