The Allegheny County Elections Division encourages registered voters who need an absentee ballot to apply as soon as possible as the state deadline is Tuesday.
This year, voters have the option to apply online on the state’s votespa.com website, where they can also learn about new voting systems and their rights as a voter.
Voters should remember that while the absentee ballot application process is more streamlined, the mailing of a ballot is still reliant upon the U.S. Mail, county spokeswoman Aime Downs said.
Absentee ballots are available for voters who will be absent from their municipality Nov. 5, or those who cannot reach the polls due to an illness or physical disability. The completed ballots must be received by the county Elections Division no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 1.
