Jefferson Hills Fire and Rescue almost ready to roll

Residents of Jefferson Hills will soon see a new volunteer fire company serving the borough.

A result of a year-long decision by Jefferson Hills firefighters and council to consolidate the borough’s 885 Area and Floreffe fire companies, the newly developed Jefferson Hills Fire and Rescue should be up and running Nov. 1.

“The whole purpose is to be one fire department,” said Andrew Tomer, fire chief of the 885 Area VFC. “We’re going to be under the same operations, by-laws and procedures. This will maximize our resources and allow us to do more with less.”
