Cherepko sails to re-election victory in McKeesport

Michael Cherepko has been re-elected as McKeesport’s mayor, according to unofficial results from the Allegheny County Elections Division.
Cherepko, who held the Democratic nomination, ran against former McKeesport Councilwoman Fawn Walker Montgomery, an independent.
There are 12,613 registered voters in McKeesport, according to the elections division.
As of presstime, 31 of the city’s 32 precincts had reported, with Ward 9 District 1 being the only precinct still not recorded.
Unofficial results from the Allegheny County Elections Division show that Cherepko received 1,922 votes, or 65.22% of the vote. Walker Montgomery, according to the unofficial results, received 1,014 votes, or 34.41% of the vote, as of presstime. There were also 11 write-in votes as of presstime.
