The City of Monongahela will have a new mayor in January and Greg Garry can’t wait to get to work.
“I was pretty confident,” Garry said. “I feel wonderful, great, very elated, to think so many people have that much confidence in you is a very overwhelming feeling.”
Garry, a Democrat who is the current city treasurer with a term ending next month, ran against Republican Councilwoman Claudia Williams.
Garry earned 592 votes and Williams took home 335 votes. All results are unofficial until certified by the Washington County Elections Bureau.
In an email prior to the polls’ closure, Williams said, “I guess the best I can say is the winner is the people’s choice and I’m sure both candidates (would) do the best job they can. Thank you to everyone who voted today and to those who supported me.”
