Representatives from PennDOT and Morgan Excavating said the Pasta Shoppe will need to front the funds for repairs to the restaurant’s sewage system and that there’s no existing proof the problems resulted from the Donner Avenue paving project.
During a meeting Friday morning at the Pasta Shoppe, PennDOT assistant project manager Leonard Kubitza said there’s no tangible evidence showing the sewage problem is related to digging on Donner Avenue.
“I will talk to my right-of-way administrator and my boss and we will see if they’ve ever had anything like this happen in the past, and we’ll see if and what we can do,” Kubitza said.
Among those at the meeting were representatives from Peoples Gas, PennDOT, Mon Valley Sewage Authority, Stephen Morgan of Morgan Excavating, state Rep. Justin Walsh, R-Rostraver Township, a representative from state Sen. Pat Stefano’s office, Monessen’s acting mayor and Councilman Anthony Orzechowski and Pasta Shoppe owner Sherri Fertall.
Morgan said all digging was done 28 inches deep, keeping it five feet away from making contact with the Pasta Shoppe’s lateral.
