A first-grader at Frazier Elementary School has been diagnosed with whooping cough.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health made the school aware that the student had contracted the communicable disease.
Officials from the Frazier School District sent a warning letter to parents alerting them of the pertussis diagnosis and told parents their children could have been in close contact with the ill student.
Parents can detect if their child is at risk by checking for the presence of a few symptoms, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
