Orzechowski confronts sewage authority over resignation

A new appointment allowed the Mon Valley Sewage Authority to resume business Tuesday night after several weeks of gridlock.
Last week, Monessen City Council appointed Brooke Farmer to the board for the rest of the year to fill the vacancy left by George Shusta, who submitted a resignation letter in early September.
When Shusta submitted the letter to the board, it was to be effective Oct. 22, but two authority board members refused to accept it.
A motion on the resignation was made at an Oct. 17 meeting, with board members Yancey Taylor and Catherine Tucker voting to accept it and members Paul Berardelli and Lewis Marraccini opposing.
