A Pittsburgh-based “residential improvement initiative” will focus some of its efforts on McKeesport thanks to a state grant and a tax credit.
Mayor Michael Cherepko recently announced McKeesport’s partnership with Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh after state Sen. Jim Brewster and state Rep. Austin Davis, both Democrats from McKeesport, revealed that RTP has been awarded $150,000 in state Gaming Economic Development Funding and $225,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program.
All that funding, according to the state lawmakers, is to be directed toward residential improvements in McKeesport in 2020.
RTP’s CEO, Steve Hellner-Burris, said the project will consist of exterior improvements to owner-occupied houses in the Grandview and Christy Park neighborhoods.
