The race for the third four-year council seat in Jefferson Hills has been decided, with Democrat Keith Reynolds defeating Republican Melissa Girman Steffey by one vote.
A Nov. 20 recount at the Allegheny County Elections Bureau had Reynolds with 1,174 votes to Steffey’s 1,173. The numbers are not official until the elections bureau certifies them Monday.
The candidates had been tied since the Nov. 5 election, with a missing vote being traced to Gill Hall VFC, which is located in the borough’s eighth precinct.
Steffey said the missing vote from Gill Hall VFC was not found, but three provisional ballots swung the final decision in Reynolds’ favor.
