The season of giving is upon us and area teens are already getting into the holiday spirit.
On Saturday, a dozen teens got together for a gift wrapping party at the Salvation Army in Monessen.
The party, which was a kickoff to a new teen program, supplied several area nursing homes with more than 300 gifts that were delivered Saturday.
Capt. Sue Thwaite said she decided to start the program to give area youths something to do after a recent 12-week program ended.
“We saw that after Bridging the Gap ended we started losing youth,” she said. “So we wanted to do something to keep them involved.”
