South Allegheny welcomes new board members

Two new South Allegheny School District board members and three current board members were sworn into office Monday night by Magisterial District Judge Armand Martin of Glassport.
Newly elected board members are Frank Cortazzo and Jason Ewing. School board director Carol Craig was elected to her seat after her appointment in June. Bryan Myers and Amy Moranelli-Johnson were also sworn in after winning their re-election bids last month.
During the reorganization portion of the meeting, Shaun DeVerse was reappointed as school board president. Peter Miller was reappointed as school board vice president.
The board reappointed Maiello Brongo & Maiello, LLP as district solicitor. The board named Dollar Bank as the district depository.
The Mon Valley Independent was named one of the district’s official newspapers.
The board tabled a motion to appoint committee members and board representatives to SHASDA and Steel Center. The board will appoint the board members to the committees at the next regular meeting set for 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
