Thomas Jefferson head coach Bill Cherpak said when he watched film and compared Dallas to his team, it was like looking in a mirror.
Once the teams took the field for Thursday’s PIAA Class 4A championship game at Hersheypark Stadium, that mirror started to look like one you’d find in a fun house at the amusement park next door.
The Jaguars showed no mercy and proved to be the strongest team on the field, rolling over the District 2 champion Mountaineers, 46-7, to win the program’s fourth state title and the first since 2008.
It’s also the program’s first in the 4A classification. The Jaguars (16-0) are now 4-0 all time in state championship games.
“This means everything to us. We actually watched the three previous state championships before coming here,” senior running back Dylan Mallozzi said, gripping his gold medal tightly. “We, as seniors, didn’t want to come all the way here and lose our last game together.”
