Jane DeGregory – Republic

Jane DeGregory, 95, of Republic, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 6, 2019 at the Residence of Hilltop. She was born Nov. 30, 1924, in Brownsville, to the late Achilles “Patsy” and Teresa Lacivita. Jane was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Republic, where she was an active member of Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America. After the closing of Holy Rosary Church in Republic, Jane became a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Brownsville. Jane graduated from Redstone High School in 1942 and attended Mason Frederick Beauty School and graduated as a licensed cosmetologist. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, baking and spending time with her family. She married John A. DeGregory in 1948 who was a well-known business man and owner of Republic Construction Company, who preceded her in death in 1998. She is the loving and devoted mother of Theresa Baker and husband Brandan, of Charleroi ; Linda Kikta, of Rostraver Township; and the late Joyce DeGregory of Republic; four grandchildren, Ashley Baker Brand, and husband Ryan, Bethany Baker, Kylie Kikta and Alex Kikta. Jane is survived by her sister, Leona Mazzocco; and nephew, Thomas Mazzocco. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Michael Mazzocco. The family would like to thank the staff at The Residence at Hilltop and Viaquest Hospice. The family would like to send a special thank you to Joan Holets, her hospice nurse from Viaquest. Joan has truly been their “angel on earth” through this difficult journey. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION, 819 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, Joseph A. Lopez, funeral director. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Monday at the historic Church of St. Peter, 111 Church St., Brownsville, with interment following in LaFayette Memorial Park. Following interment, the family will celebrate the life of Jane with a gathering at the St. Spyridan Hellenic Center, Monessen. Online condolences may be sent to www.spallinofuneralhome.com.
