There is currently no spending plan in the works in North Charleroi.
During a council meeting Monday night, council briefly spoke of planning a January meeting to discuss budget details, but that will be a month too late.
According to Pennsylvania Borough Code, municipal budgets must be adopted by Dec. 31.
Solicitor Christine Cardinale said the borough is aware of the need to pass a spending plan, but has been struggling keeping up with day-to-day tasks after the recent retirement of the borough secretary.
“Ms. (Carrie) Zeletski and Ms. (Cynthia) Randall have been putting in a lot of hours trying to make sure everything is taken care of here,” she said. “It’s been chaos.”
Randall took the seat of former councilman and finance chair Robert Hodgson in August.
