Grant applicants for local projects that would total more than $2 million have been recommended for approval by the Washington County Local Share Account Review Committee.
“What continues to be impressive is the quality of projects that are being submitted by Mon Valley communities,” said Jeff Kotula, review committee chairman. “This year, the LSA Review Committee is recommending over $3.07 million of the $6.9 million in total LSA funding to Mon Valley projects. The ability of Mon Valley communities to work together for LSA funding is a true testament to their efforts to cooperate and work together for the Valley.”
The committee has recommended approval of 35 grant applications throughout the county, that will total nearly $7 million in LSA funding going to projects. LSA funding is generated through the county’s share of gaming revenues derived from The Meadows Racetrack and Casino.
“This year was a great year for the Washington County Local Share Account Review process as we had the opportunity to review 88 important project applications from across the county — which was one of the highest amounts of applications we ever received since the program started nearly 11 years ago,” said Kotula.
