Austin Davis, a 30-year-old Democrat, is seeking re-election as the state representative for Pennsylvania’s 35th Legislative District.
Davis lives in McKeesport with his wife Blayre Holmes Davis. He made his re-election announcement Friday at the Palisades in McKeesport during an annual holiday party he throws for his staff and supporters.
Davis told the gathering he is proud that he has “worked hard to bring more than $6.5 million in grants to our region to improve our communities, create jobs and advance opportunities.”
He said he has gained leadership skills in his capacity as a Deputy Democratic Whip in Harrisburg and as a member of the House Appropriations, Insurance and Consumer Affairs committees.
If re-elected, Davis said he will focus on securing a raise in the state’s minimum wage, which stands at $7.25 per hour.
“If we are going to progress, we have to ensure that the hard workers of our state are making a living wage,” Davis said.
