Blainefield submits resignation

One of the most storied football programs in the WPIAL, if not the state, is looking for a new football coach.
And quite possibly is faced with being shut down because of a lack in numbers.
Mikey Blainefield resigned as coach of Monessen last week after three seasons at the helm.
Blainefield, who has served on Greyhound staffs for 10 years after a successful career as a player, cited a shortage of players as one of the reasons for his decision.
“I really did a lot of soul searching over this. It was truly one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make. But it was only a hard decision because of my heart and love for the school and the youth,” he said.
