Coffee cart develops life skills for Ringgold students

It’s no secret specialty coffee drinks are popular among high school students and teachers alike. Now, at Ringgold there’s no reason to leave campus for a treat.
Lynne Hawkins’ lifeskills and Catherine Lutes’ multi-disability support classrooms have been running the RAMS Perk N’ Go coffee cart since just before Thanksgiving and it is extremely popular.
Lynne said the district has planned to build a cafe in the high school’s media center but it’s still in the construction phase.
In the meantime, Lynne had a cart and storage bins that used to belong to a Wendy’s restaurant and an idea.
She reached out to Eric Clark, owner of the Perked Up Cafe in Charleroi because his son Haden is a freshman in the class.
“In early September we started talking back and forth through Haden,” Eric said. “Then we had a meeting, a brainstorming session.”
