Steps are being taken to make a dangerous intersection in Elizabeth Township a bit safer.
After two separate traffic studies a year apart, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has agreed to install four-way stop signs at the intersection of Route 48 and Round Hill Road, which currently only has stop signs on Round Hill Road. The intersection has been the scene of innumerable accidents, including at least two fatal crashes.
The township posted the results of the study on its Facebook page, trying to get information out to residents about the upcoming change in the traffic pattern.
“Earlier this year Elizabeth Township requested a safety study be performed of the entire corridor of Round Hill Road and Route 48. We just received notice that this intersection meets the criteria to warrant a multi-way stop. Within the next few weeks you will begin to see the county and state making the changes/improvements to this intersection,” the post stated.
