Turnovers and a cold-shooting first half plagued Ringgold in the first half of its Section 3-4A game Friday at Waynesburg.
But seniors Chris Peccon and Luke Wyvratt led a second-half comeback to pull out a 76-70 victory and remain undefeated in the section.
Peccon and Wyvratt each tallied 19 points in the second half as Ringgold clamped down defensively.
“We just didn’t play our best in the first half,” Rams coach Phil Pergola said. “We shot a better percentage in the second half and had better ball movement. We got guys some good looks and they made the baskets. I think we were 20 of 26 from the field in the second half. Our defense picked up the slack too and we stayed out of foul trouble.”
Rams (7-2, 2-0) saw its deficit grow to 50-41 in the late stages of the third period before the rally.
“We just came together as a team,” Wyvratt said. “The key thing was eliminating their second-chance points and controlling the boards. We had better ball movement in the second half and got a lot of different guys involved in the offense.”
