With his team deadlocked in a 55-55 tie late in Monday night’s game against Ellis School, Serra Catholic head coach Bill Cleary designed a set play he hoped would help the Eagles extend their modest winning streak to three games.
The veteran coach watched with anticipation as, with the clock ticking down to the final seconds, his plan was executed to perfection.

“We had to suck it up, it was either run this play properly or we’re going to overtime,” Cleary said. “Nicole was so open, she had a lot of time to get it up, so I was just thinking, ‘Please go in, please go in.’ We had to execute and we did.”
