UPMC is preparing for round two of its plan to build a new medical complex in Jefferson Hills.
The medical giant was turned down by the borough’s zoning board in September, and after a number of appeals and extensions, officials representing UPMC will present a new, updated plan to the board Jan. 27.
UPMC hopes to build a three-story, 225,000-square-foot, 63-bed medical complex off Elliot Road and Route 51, just one mile from Allegheny Health Network’s Jefferson Hospital, which has operated in Jefferson Hills since 1973.
The complex will include a hospital, clinic, office space, 700 parking spaces and a helipad that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Following the zoning board’s Sept. 16 decision to uphold an appeal filed by Jefferson Hills residents, borough solicitor Jeffrey Lochner had 45 days to issue his “finding of facts,” and UPMC had 30 days to appeal the board’s decision following Lochner’s report.
