Deamontae Diggs admits he was a little nervous about how things would play out for McKeesport on Tuesday.
Facing off against Gateway, the Tigers were out two starters, Colton Kovach and Travarese Rowe, and were working with a new lineup. How would things flow? How would the team mesh, he wondered?
As it turns out, pretty well.
McKeesport settled into its new lineup, and Diggs and Brison Kisan each finished with a double-double, as the Tigers defeated Gateway, 65-52.
Diggs finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Brison Kisan led the team with 20 points, and also had 11 rebounds.
“We feel like we have to hold serve on our home court. These seniors are determined to run the table at home this year, and I think that had a lot to do with it,” said McKeesport coach Kevin Kovach. “There was a lot of leadership out there.”
