It seems that whenever or wherever Mon Valley residents see a need, they are quick to help. That quality applies even if the need is half a world away.
Wildfires in Australia captured the hearts of a number of area residents who responded by putting their time and talents to use.
“I was just so sad about the fires. When I was little, I was really into Australia,” said Ashley D’Emidio of Donora, who owns Lightwork Studio LLC in Monongahela.
D’Emidio recently hosted a paint and snack event at her business for children ages 4 to 12, with all the proceeds going to the Australian Red Cross.
“I did a little research on the different organizations,” she said. “I chose the Red Cross because it seemed like a good cause. It seemed like a safe place to donate it.”
