The Geibel boys basketball team is starting to get healthy, and that might not be a good thing for a lot of other teams in Class A.
The Gators have battled through various illnesses and ailments this season, but with a full lineup at their disposal, they could be capable of big things. On Tuesday night, the Gators avenged a 14-point loss to Monessen earlier this season by taking down the Greyhounds at home, 56-53 in Section 2 (A).
The win pushes the Gators (12-6, 7-3) into second place in the section standings, one-half game ahead of the Greyhounds (7-12, 6-3).
“We came out with a lot of energy and we are finally getting back to full strength,” Geibel coach Don Porter said.
Porter noted that in the 55-41 loss to Monessen earlier this season, the Gators certainly weren’t at full strength.
“At their place, (Ryan) Anderson was in deep foul trouble early in the game and we played without (Enzo) Fetsko,” Porter said. “But we battled.”
