Two nonprofit organizations that call Charleroi home received a combined $55,000 in grant funding Tuesday.
Club Serenity, a substance abuse disorder recovery organization, and the Mon Valley Academy for the Arts, an organization with a mission to provide arts and cultural programs in the Mon Valley, both benefited from a collaboration between the Department of Community and Economic Development and a partnership with UPMC Health Plan.
A “party” was held Tuesday afternoon at Club Serenity, where the Twin Coaches Jr. Stage band entertained guests. The nonprofit’s mission is to provide arts and cultural programs in the Mon Valley, including professional showcases, classes, workshops, performances and exhibits.
Rick Vilello, DCED deputy secretary of community affairs and development, was joined by legislators, local leaders, district officials and Scott Lammie, UPMC senior vice president, business development and board treasurer for UPMC Insurance Services Division, to celebrate the occasion.
