Two more players responsible for the revival of the Charleroi boys soccer program have signed on the dotted line to continue their playing careers.
Cullin Woytovich, the program’s most prolific scorer, and Leo Iacovangelo, will continue their athletic and academic careers at Cal U and St. Vincent College, respectively.
Woytovich, the son of Tim and Ann Woytovich of Charleroi, will be another Valley addition to a growing group of local players on Vulcans head coach Emedin Sabic’s team.
Woytovich, who finished with 132 career goals for the Cougars, will be a gamechanger for the Vulcans, Charleroi coach Jon Ducoli said.
“His technical skills and speed are unmatched, not to mention that he finds the back of the net quite often,” Ducoli said. “He knows and has played with most of the guys on the team, so the chemistry should be a sure thing.”
Ringgold grads Jeff Soles and Kobe Norfleet and former Thomas Jefferson star AJ Meshanko were freshmen last season.
“Emedin and I have been talking since I was a freshman and he really liked my style of play,” Woytovich said. “My speed and footwork are my strengths, but I know I need to get stronger overall for college.”
Iacovangelo, the son of Kevin and Vicki Iacovangelo of Monessen, will join Bearcats head coach and Monessen resident Carl DeiCas’ squad.
“Whenever I talked to Coach DeiCas for the first time, he told me that I was going to be a perfect fit for the program,” Iacovangelo said. “He told me that I would change the program, which really cemented my choice to go there. It was amazing to hear that.”
Iacovangelo was an intergral part of Charleroi’s midfield, controlling balls on the ground and in the air.
