The Ringgold boys basketball team got just the playoff tune-up it was looking for in a 66-52 rout of West Mifflin to close the regular season Monday night.
The Rams (13-9) opened against the host Titans on a 15-0 run and never looked back en route to the non-section victory.
West Mifflin (1-21) didn’t score a field goal, going 0 for 11 from the floor in the opening quarter, as Ringgold finished off the first frame with a 19-3 advantage.
“We told them, every team is going to make runs, but the first run is most important,” said Ringgold head coach Phil Pergola.
Ringgold continued its defensive work in the second quarter.
The Titans scored their first field goal of the game with 6:27 to play in the second, not hitting their next field goal until the 1:11 mark before halftime. In the second, the Rams slowed their offensive roll, outscoring West Mifflin 12-8 in a relatively more balanced scoring matchup than the opening eight minutes.
