Coles challenges resident to fight

Councilman Gil Coles seemed to threaten a Monessen resident during Tuesday’s council meeting, asking the man if he wanted to “take it outside.”
Resident Pino Cianflone criticized Coles and Mayor Matt Shorraw, pointing out that they both stayed away from their duties for more than 18 months and then returned to council meetings in January to “tell us how lousy a job (council members Lois Thomas and Anthony Orzechowski) did.”
“They did your job, because you didn’t show up,” Cianflone said.
Cianflone said he told the mayor during his absence that no one could harm him if he came to meetings because he was in charge of the police department.
“You got all the juice in the world,” Cianflone said. “But you chose not to show up for whatever reason. And now you question the people who ran the town for what a lousy job they did. They did a better job than both of you guys because you weren’t here.”
