Monessen enters the WPIAL playoffs with a losing record, but the Greyhounds believe they’re better than their 10-12 mark indicates.
The Hounds are the seventh seed in Class A and will take on 10th-seeded Union at 1 p.m. today at North Hills High School
Nine of their 12 losses came in non-conference play, primarily playing above their class, something that prepares the team for postseason competition.
“The kids know that we always play a tough non-conference schedule,” said head coach Dan Bosnic. “It’s been tougher in terms of the results, but the kids realize that once you get in the playoffs, it’s a new season and hopefully those experiences in the tough non-conference will help win games now.
“That’s always the goal in having a schedule like that and hopefully it’ll pay off for us.”
