White Oak will work on feral cat solution

White Oak drew a standing- room-only crowd for Monday’s meeting as about three dozen animal lovers came to ask council to take steps to change an ordinance concerning feeding feral cats.
The attendees were inspired after White Oak resident Jomarie Piccini received a notice from the borough code enforcement office on Feb. 5. It stated she had five days to stop running a cat colony on her property because neighbors viewed it as “a nuisance” and because it violated a borough ordinance.
Donna Priselac, a friend of Piccini who identified herself as a volunteer from a homeless cat management team run by Frankie’s Friends animal rescue, spoke on Piccini’s behalf. Priselac was joined by Dr. Becky Morrow, the medical director and lead veterinarian for Frankie’s Friends.
Priselac presented a large stack of petitions signed by more than 18,000 people on Change.org. The petitions urge council to “consider creating a new or revised cat ordinance.”
