No. 12 Trojans upset Centurions in stunner

Down five at halftime, the No. 12 seed California girls basketball team dialed up the intensity and battled for a 36-35 victory over No. 5 Greensburg Central Catholic in the opening round of the WPIAL Class playoffs at Peters Township High School on Tuesday.
“I loved our intensity on offense and defense,” California coach Chris Niemiec said. “We were aggressive for sure.
“You don’t always have to run the plays correctly if you’re being a little aggressive and can just beat your player head-to-head. As long as we can continue to play like that, we’ll be fine.”
The Trojans (13-10) trailed by five at halftime before seeing their fortunes change in the second half.
