They say the Lord works in mysterious ways, and for the Rev. Mary Kay Glunt and her husband Donald, also a reverend, a 1985 trip to Missouri that was supposed to last only four years went on much longer than they anticipated.
And while they had no idea back then that they would both become pastors at neighboring churches in Rostraver Township, the couple said they’re extremely pleased with the direction they’ve been given.
Mary Kay is the newly hired pastor at First Presbyterian Church on Fayette Street, and Donald is the pastor of nearby Rehoboth Presbyterian Church.
“Our original plan was to come back after four years,” Mary Kay, who grew up on Pittsburgh’s South Side, said of their trip to Missouri for schooling. “But we ended up going to grad school and his mother moved out there with us and we had both our kids born and raised there. We ended up staying out there for 33 years.”
