McClelland prison time unchanged

A woman who saw a three-judge panel overturn her conspiracy to commit murder conviction one year ago learned Thursday that she will see no benefit in terms of her new sentence.
Diane McClelland, 57, of Coal Center — in addition to her husband and stepson — was originally found guilty of all charges related to the July 2011 murder of 92-year-old Evelyn Stepko.
A state appellate court dismissed the harshest conviction against Diane McClelland — conspiracy to commit murder — in February 2019. She was originally sentenced to 24 1/2 to 49 years in jail and that charge carried the bulk of the sentence — 20 to 40 years.
When McClelland was resentenced on the remaining charges she was convicted of Thursday she learned from Washington County Judge John DiSalle that her time in jail will not be diminished.
