Local colleges revise schedules in response to COVID-19 outbreak

With the COVID-19 strain of coronavirus on the minds of people across the globe and with the World Health Organization declaring the disease’s outbreak as a pandemic, colleges and universities across the country are making temporary changes to student’s spring schedules and canceling in-person classes.
And, the case is no different in the Mon Valley.
California University of Pennsylvania is extending students’ spring break to March 27 in response to concerns about COVID-19, a respiratory illness. On March 30, Cal U classes will resume in an online format.
Students at Penn State University, including those at the Greater Allegheny campus in McKeesport, have been told to stay home and away from campus for the next three weeks and to take classes online.
