Last month, parishioners from Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church celebrated “being blessed” by performing acts of kindness for their neighbors and the people who serve the local community.
The Rev. Jessica McClure Archer, who prefers to be called “Pastor Jessica,” said her congregants were discussing Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount in January and February. They decided they wanted to celebrate the idea that Jesus tells Christians that they are all blessed.
“We are marked blessed and we decided we should be a blessing to others,” Pastor Jessica said.
The parishioners decided to establish “Blessed to be a Blessing Week.”
Each day from Feb. 15 to 23, they came together to complete service projects at places such as the Blessing Board in McKeesport and at the Cupboard Stretchers Food Pantry in White Oak.
