The Mon Valley Sewage Authority isn’t making any major changes as the region moves from red to yellow under the COVID-19 state of emergency.
The board decided Monday to continue the practice of not accepting in-person payments at the authority. Chairman Lewis Marraccini suggested no payments be accepted in person until the governor moves the region into the green category for reopening businesses.
“Even if he opens it up, I think we should keep our masks on for a while, until we see if it fluctuates. I think the count is going to go up again,” said authority member Catherine Tucker.
Sean Gaskill, the authority’s chief operator, said employees have been moved from a six-hour work day to an eight-hour work day as of Monday, but remain separated into two groups, working alternate weeks.
The authority received a thank you email from the Utility Workers Union Local 487 for the safety plan implemented by the authority during the COVID-19 crisis.
In other matters, the authority voted to accept the engagement letter from Palermo and Kissinger for the 2019 audit with the stipulation that the audit report be presented by a member of that firm.
