James W. ‘Jimmy’ Jackson – Charleroi
James W. “Jimmy” Jackson, 72, of Charleroi, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at his home. He was born in Pricedale on Feb. 28, 1948, son of James Coleman and Mable Bowman. Jimmy was retired from the former Corning Glass in Charleroi and was a member of the Corning Retirees. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He served as a scout for his infantry and was distinguished as a marksman and sharp shooter. Jimmy is survived by a sister, Betty Lawson of Pricedale; two daughters, Alaisha Williams of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ria Johnson of Monessen; a son, Corey Johnson of Charleroi; two stepdaughters, Nadia Sullivan of Columbus, Ohio, and Michelle Johnson of Monessen; his godson, Vondre Smith of Aliquippa; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by five nephews, Thomas Craigway, David Craigway, Kenny Pone, Jimmy Lawson and Henry Lawson Jr.; his cousin, who was like a brother, Robert Stewart and his wife Sandra; his close friend, Carol Arnold; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two aunts, Maise Newbill and Martha Stewart. “Pappy” will be deeply missed. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements were entrusted to LEONARD M.
